What started as themed lesson packs for our own family adventures was just the beginning. Guided by a passion for meaningful learning, our vision expanded into educational group travel events, then global experiences, and now a growing community of families who believe that learning should be filled with wonder, purpose, and joy.
Hi, I’m Karen Nelson—homeschool mom, travel professional, and founder of Destination Learning Adventures.
For more than 30 years, I’ve worked as a travel professional, planning everything from intimate family gatherings to international cruises and tours. In 2009, I brought that same spirit of discovery to the homeschool community, creating educational cruise and travel experiences for families who share a love learning. That passion has grown into Destination Learning Adventures—bringing hands-on, story-rich learning to families everywhere, whether you’re exploring from your kitchen table or halfway across the world.
I created this community because families deserve more—richer connections, deeper curiosity, and more opportunities to make childhood unforgettable. I know how hard it can be to balance real life with real learning, which is why everything we offer is designed to be flexible, faith-friendly, and purposeful.
